2021 Ford Transit Specs, Price, Diesel, and Release Date. If you find new pickup trucks too expensive, the 2021 Ford Transit Connect could be the answer. It isn’t a pickup truck, but a minivan. However, it serves as a perfect alternative to more rugged and capable models. This pint-sized passenger van offers a room for seven passengers and great comfort. It rides on a four-cylinder engine that provides a quiet and smooth ride.
Transit Connect comes with superb maneuverability, which comes handy in heavy traffic. Blue Oval manufacturer also provides good infotainment features and numerous driver-assistance systems. Still, the interior is far from luxurious, but its functionality is simply amazing.
This van continues to use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Thanks to a turbocharger, the 2021 Ford Transit Connect makes 150 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque. This unit replaced a 2.5-liter one year ago, so it is a relatively fresh powertrain option. Transit Connect provides a standard automatic start/stop system, and it offers an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The front-wheel-drive setup is standard as well, and van’s towing capacity is rated at 1570 pounds. What we like about this model is its superb driving manners and ride quality. The engine delivers 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. That is on par with competitors such as Ram ProMaster.
2021 TRANSIT CONNECT EXTERIOR FACELIFT
The next model will get a couple of upgrades in all categories. The 2021 Ford Transit Connect won’t be heavily upgraded, especially in terms of exterior. The new model will offer more standard features this time. That includes automatic headlights and configurable running lights that were optional before. Moreover, rain-sensing windshield wipers are now available as well.
Besides that, Transit Connect could gain two new exterior colors. This van is available in two body styles and three trim levels. Moreover, two wheelbase lengths are in the offer. Thanks to that, Transit Connect is one very practical and easy-to-customize model. Still, we don’t expect any changes in terms of design.
INTERIOR GETS NUMEROUS HIGH-TECH UPGRADES
The interior brings Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integrations. Moreover, the 2021 Ford Transit Connect comes with built-in navigation and a new infotainment system. However, the standard touchscreen is a carryover. A Wi-Fi hotspot is optional on the base trim level. Speaking of the most affordable version, Ford will add standard blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert system. New adaptive cruise control is optional on all three trim levels.
That, Ford will keep rear parking sensors, lane-keeping assist and Trailer Tow package in the offer. Thanks to this package, Transit Connect will provide 2000 pounds of towing capacity. As for the cargo area, 127 cubic feet of space is more than enough. Besides technology updates, this van won’t deliver exciting design or layout changes.
