2021 Peugeot 5008 Specs, Facelift, Price, and Release Date. Most of our readers probably didn’t know that Peugeot offers a crossover SUV model. Peugeot 5008 was once a seven-seat MPV. However, recently, it became a three-row crossover. The 2020 Peugeot 5008 will look to rival models such as Skoda Kodiaq, Renault Scenic, and Nissan X-Trail.
This crossover comes with crossover’s robustness and it delivers a good performance. New 2020 model will get some sort of upgrades. More interior space, more standard features and possibly a new engine. The design looks attractive but it won’t be changed significantly for 2020.
Peugeot continues to rely on the growth of the SUV segment in markets around the world. After the launch of new Peugeot 3008 and the update of the Peugeot 2008, it’s time to update the 2020 Peugeot 5008. This is a flagship SUV with capacity for 7 passengers in three rows of seats.
With the 5008, Peugeot wants to give continuity to the good taste that started with 3008, which means the same design philosophy, with lots of new aesthetical details on both ends of the vehicle.
Peugeot 5008 Facelift
The all-new 2020 Peugeot 5008 won’t arrive with any major change. A minor facelift will happen for the next year’s model. That includes more chrome details and more aluminum materials. Bumpers are slightly different and headlights are revised.
New larger wheels are in the offer and the rear end will stay intact. However, this crossover SUV looks robust and very attractive. The character is the same as before, it just looks slightly more modern.
Inside the Peugeot 5008 2020, we can see a more compact steering wheel with height and depth adjustment. There is an 8-inch touch screen in the instrument panel that can be configured and customized to the driver’s taste. Between the infotainment screen and the gear lever, it has a series of piano buttons. They allow access to the main comfort functions. The seats are heated and lined in leather or Nappa leather depending on the version. The amount of legroom is pretty generous in all three rows. On the other side, things aren’t that good in the cargo area. You can count on only 6 cubic feet (166 liters) behind the third row. Still, keep in mind that this is more compact than a mid-size SUV in terms of dimensions. The overall cargo space is pretty typical for the class and goes over 2000 liters (> 72 cubic feet).
We don’t expect that the French manufacturer will touch too much on the inside with this update. A couple of new features, particularly in terms of safety and technology is everything we could see in the 2020 Peugeot 5008.
2020 PEUGEOT 5008 EXTERIOR
The Peugeot 5008 2020 has a modern and bold silhouette that can impress at first sight by generating a mix of elegance and comfort thanks to its robust appearance. On the front, we can see the luminous signature and the headlights with a slightly curved shape that draw a feline look. We doubt that the upcoming update will affect such a beautiful approach too much. Still, a couple of o tweaks to the front fascia and the slightly revised bumper is something we can count on. The rest of the vehicle probably won’t change too much. Typical updates in terms of new wheels, color options etc will come.
At its rear, the Peugeot 5008 2020 features an aerodynamic line of its window with an ultra-modern and iconic style of the bright black horizontal band that enhances the three claws of the LED lights integrated with the tailgate.
This Peugeot 5008 measures 4.6 meters long, 2.09 meters wide with 1.6 meters high. You can find it in pearly white, platinum gray, emerald glass, burlesque blue and pearl black with 18-inch aluminum wheels in all its versions.
Peugeot’s newest crossover SUV will offer a beautiful palette of exterior colors. There will be up to eight available choices. Bianca White is the only standard color. If you want some other exterior paint, you have to pay additional money.
Emerald, Nimbus Grey, Cumulus Grey, Amazonite Grey, Egyptian Blue, and Nera Black are all optional. The French automaker will offer one exclusive color and it is a Pearlescent White.

New 5008 model will offer the same engine lineup as the smaller 3008 models. That includes two gasoline engine and two diesel options. The customers can choose between a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and the 8-speed automatic transmissions. For that reason, the 2020 Peugeot 5008 is a very customizable crossover SUV.
Gasoline engines are 1.2 and 1.6-liter units. Both units are producing 131 hp on the base trim level. The same units on upper trim levels are providing up to 170 horses. Diesel variants on upper trims such as GT can crank out 180 horsepower. Just like the 3008 model, the 5008 Peugeot is also available with an all-wheel-drive system.
The engine lineup of 2020 Peugeot 5008 is about to remain the same. Count on a familiar range of engines. The lineup starts with a small 1.2-liter turbo-three petrol engine, which is good for about 130 horsepower. If you’re seeking for better performances, a 1.6-liter turbo-four with 180 horsepower seems like a perfect choice.
When it comes to diesel, a new 1.5-liter HDi is pretty efficient and delivers around 130 horsepower. If you prefer something more powerful, go for a 2.0-liter HDi, which features a max output of around 180 horsepower.

The Peugeot 5008 2020 arrives to compete against the Volkswagen Tiguan, Nissan X-Trail, Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage or Chevrolet Equinox, in terms of dimensions. If you look strictly at the price, competitors are medium SUVs such as the Nissan Pathfinder, Mazda CX-9, Chevrolet Traverse etc. It could even be in the fight with luxury models such as the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC60.
This wide range of competition can be a two-edged sword because although it puts it as an alternative among a greater number of consumers. Still, it definitely has advantages against premium models because of its equipment level at a more accessible price.
