2025 GMC Canyon AT4X Rumors, Specs, and Release Date. General Motors is currently on fire, with variety of new editions, trim levels and packages. The 2025 GMC Canyon AT4X is the latest one. Reportedly, it is a new trim level that will sit above the AT4 variant. Moreover, reliable sources are saying the AT4X will be mechanical twin to the Chevy Silverado ZR2 model. This means the Canyon AT4X will gain impressive upgrades in terms of suspension and performances.
GMC introduced the Canyon AT4 off-road variant in January of last year, and it soon proved popular. Last November, the manufacturer introduced an off-road special version to improve the vehicle’s market performance even further, and it appears that GMC is working on yet another, even more extreme Canyon model. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know.
2025 Canyon AT4X Specs
The biggest question is what will be under the hood of the 2025 GMC Canyon AT4X? According to several reports, the new Canyon AT4X will arrive with a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine with around 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. There will be no diesel option for the time being, according to reports. This comes as a huge upgrade over the regular Canyon.
The base variant comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 200 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, you can get a 3.6-liter V6 with 308 horses and 276 lb-ft of twisting power. There is a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine that generates 180 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque. Clearly, the AT4X variant will be the most powerful one in the Canyon lineup.

The upcoming Canyon pickup truck is getting a redesign. The 2025 GMC Canyon AT4X will wear the same design language, although we don’t know how this model will look like. For sure, the AT4X trim level will add more luxury and it will look more aggressive. What we know is that the Canyon AT4X will arrive with a 33-inch Goodyear tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers and bigger wheel arches.
This version will add better approach and departure angles. Thanks to that, it will be an impressive off-road pickup truck. The manufacturer plans to build new Canyon around the 31XX-2 architecture and some reports are saying the 17-inch wheels will be offered as standard.
2025 GMC Canyon AT4X Release Date
In general, the 2025 GMC Canyon AT4X model will be fairly restricted, much like the forthcoming Chevrolet Silverado ZR2. Customers will have only one body style (crew cab) and one engine choice to pick from. Add to that the reality that these two performance trucks will be severely constrained in terms of aftermarket tuning options due to the encrypted nature of the GM Global B electrical architecture.
With rivals such as the Ram 1500 TRX also only available in crew cab setup, it looks that this is how the market will be heading for the years ahead. The sales will begin later in 2025 and we are waiting for manufacturer to reveal more details.
