It is one of the rare SUVs nowadays which is based on the body-on-frame architecture. The GX 460 is equipped with excellent features and safety systems. The current model has entered the market with a few changes, but the carmaker has announced the newest 2025 Lexus GX 460 which could get some major changes. It is not yet confirmed, but the GX SUV might get slightly revised exterior styling, upgraded technology, and perhaps some kind of electrification under its hood.
2025 Lexus GX 460 powertrain and performance
The 2025 Lexus GX 460 will use the same, familiar engine which powers the current model. It is a 4.6-liter V-8 engine which is able to deliver 301 horsepower and the torque of 329 pound-feet. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and comes standard with a full-time all-wheel drive system which also features a 2-speed transfer case and lockable center differential. The GX 460 is able to hit 60 mph in 7.8 seconds. Speaking of the fuel economy, this engine is rated at 15 mpg in the city, 18 mpg on the highway, and 16 mpg combined.
On the other hand, the newest 2025 Lexus GX 460 might get a hybrid engine this time, but this information is not yet confirmed and there are no further details for now.
Design of exterior
The Lexus GX 460 will feature the familiar square-shaped body. The front end is dominated by the recognizable massive spindle grille and distinctive headlamps. The doors are large and the rear ones feature a side-opening arrangement. It is tall and has high entry and exit. The GX 460 rides on standard 18-inch wheels. The 2025 Lexus GX 460 could be slightly revised, but we don’t have any precise details for now. Perhaps, it could get slightly revised front end with restyled headlamps, grille, and bumper. The rear bumper and taillights might also be new for 2025.
The interior design of the 2025 Lexus GX 460
The interior of the 2025 Lexus GX 460 is spacious and comes standard with three rows of seats. It is able to welcome up to seven passengers. The front seats are very comfortable and there is plenty of leg and head room for all the passengers. It is tall and the outward visibility is excellent. The second-row bench seat is also good and can slide for more leg room. The third row of seats is the best for children. The third row can not be removed but it is power-folding. The standard model gets NuLuxe upholstery while the higher trim levels are equipped with real leather.
The dashboard is wide and the controls are easy to use and reachable. It is equipped with a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment system. As for the cargo space, the GX 460 is very generous. And the third row can be folded flat for more room if needed.
Equipment and safety of the 2025 Lexus GX 460
The 2025 GX 460 will be available in several trim levels and those include the base, Premium, and Luxury trim levels. The base model comes standard with cruise control, power features, 18-inch wheels, 10-way power front seats, and 8.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment, a moonroof, a rearview camera, dual-zone climate control, power-operated tilt/telescope steering wheel, dual USB port, Bluetooth, and AM/FM/CD audio system with nine speakers. Some of the options for the base model will include navigation, blind-spot monitors, heated and ventilated seats, and smartphone-app connectivity.
The mid-range GX 460 Premium model will add heated and cooled seats, navigation, three-zone climate control, interior air filter, LED fog lights, Intuitive Parking Assist, and mahogany trim. The range-topping Luxury models will also include a rear air suspension, captain’s chair second row, power-folding outside mirrors, a heated steering wheel trimmed in wood and leather, nicer leather upholstery, and adaptive suspension.
Some of the optional features will be Mark Levinson audio system with 17 speakers, dual-screen rear-seat DVD entertainment, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and so on. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay probably won’t be offered once again.
As for the safety, all the versions are equipped with 10 airbags, a rearview camera, active head restraints, Lexus’ safety connect system, and Bluetooth for handsfree calling. There will be an optional package which adds adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, attention assist, lane-departure warnings, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high beams. The blind-spot monitors and surround-view cameras are also optional.
Release date and price
It is not yet officially confirmed, but the newest 2025 Lexus GX 460 should arrive sometime during next year. The price is also not revealed. We assume that it could be slightly higher than the current which begins at around $52,700.
