Subaru’s new three-row crossover SUV has finally arrived. The new 2025 Subaru Ascent 8 Seater is brand’s largest model ever and the heaviest and most expressive. The supersized Subaru rides on brand’s global platform and exploits new turbocharged engine which we should expect in more Subaru’s models soon.
2025 SUBARU ASCENT 8 SEATER: DESIGN
The Subaru Ascent 8 Seater is based on the scalable Subaru Global Platform that debuted on the 2017 Impreza and also underpins the Crosstrek wagon. In this application, however, the platform is longer and wider but stiffer as well in order to support model’s supersize, mass and towing potential.From the visual perspective, the Ascent is classical Subaru’s vehicle. The front of the model is defined with brand’s familiar, trapezoidal grille with slightly more upright design than on the Outback model.
INTERIOR, EQUIPMENT:
Interior of the model is spacious and seats up to eight people with 152 cubes of the passenger space. With all seats upright, the model has 19.6 cubes of the cargo room and 44.3 cubes with the third row unused. The max cargo capacity is 72.6 cubic feet.As for the equipment, Subaru offers the EyeSight active safety hardware by default. The systems included are adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and active lane control. Upgrade to top trims for the blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automated braking.All models also include touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto support. Available across the trims will be 20-inch wheels, navigation, premium Harman Kardon sound system, a sunroof, etc.
2025 SUBARU ASCENT 8 SEATER: POWERTRAIN
The power for the supersized 2025 Subaru Ascent 8 Seater will be provided by brand’s new turbo-4 engine. A 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 produces 260 hp and 277 pound-feet of torque at low 2000 rpm. The continuously variable transmission works in the combination with the new engine and brand’s proven and standard Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.Equipped with the tow package, the Ascent can tow up to 5, 000 pounds as Subaru claims. The model also has additional cladding around the wheel wells and the ground clearance of 8.7 inches.
2025 SUBARU ASCENT 8 SEATER: RELEASE, PRICE
The 2025 Subaru Ascent 8 Seater will go on sale next summer. The pricing is yet to be announced. Expect, however, the starting point of around $35k and near $50k for the top version.
