Kia used the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show to present the flamboyant Kia Niro EV Concept and also revealed brand’s advancements in technology. Kia will add the all-electric version to the lineup and the model is expected to join early next year.Kia has, however, the ambitious plan to electrify its lineup with the total of 16 vehicles by 2025 and it will also offer the fuel-cell electric model. The Niro EV is closest to the production and the prototype was caught while performing cold weather testing. It appears that the new Niro EV will look very similar to the current versions while should adopt the similar powertrain setup as the Concept vehicle.
2025 KIA NIRO EV: DESIGN
The compact Niro shares the underpinning with the Hyundai Ioniq hatchback but electrified models don’t actually look like the hybrid car rather like conventional crossovers. Based on what we can draw from the camouflaged prototype, the 2025 Kia Niro EV won’t also differ much from the current versions.Behind the camo, it seems that model has a very similar shape to the rest of the lineup although it looks to have a more streamlined front end. Kia will distinguish the all-electric version with some unique elements and one should be the filled-in version of the tiger nose grille. The model will also show toned down design of body panels we saw on the Concept version and even headlights will look more conservative than Concept’s units.
INTERIOR, EQUIPMENT:
No photos have been available of model’s interior. It shouldn’t also depart far from the available versions. The model will offer good-quality materials and will have large and clear instruments and controls.Kia will, of course, distinguish the interior of this model with unique accents and patterns. The model will also get the latest infotainment system and luxurious options. The bundle of active safety features will also be available from the base version.
2025 KIA NIRO EV: POWERTRAIN
The most important is, of course, what performance will the 2025 Kia Niro EV be capable of. Kia hasn’t revealed yet but we expect similar setup to what Niro EV Concept had.The model is expected with the front axle mounted electric motor which should produce around 200 horsepower. The motor will get the power from the lithium-polymer battery. It should be the 64-kWh pack and the range it provides should be around 238 miles.
2025 KIA NIRO EV: RELEASE, PRICE
The 2025 Kia Niro EV should go on sale early next year. Kia hasn’t revealed prices as it hasn’t said much about model’s other specs. In order to be competitive with the Bolt EV and even Kia Soul, the model should cost around the mid-30, 000.
